Tin Type Workshops

Step back in time and experience one of photography's most captivating historic processes. In this hands-on Tin Type Workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of wet plate collodion photography, a technique dating back to the mid-1800s that produces striking, one-of-a-kind images on metal plates.

You'll explore the history of tintype photography, learn how to prepare and sensitize plates, operate a large-format camera, and develop images using traditional darkroom techniques. Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own authentic tintype portrait and gain insight into the craftsmanship, chemistry, and artistry behind this historic photographic process.
